I was nearly on the telly

Thanks to Martyn Cornell pointing them in my direction I was contacted by a TV production company recently. A woman phoned to talk about hops and Henry VIII, as they were looking for someone for a Tony Robinson programme. Being a dedicated beer bore with more than a passing interest in hops and history this was right up my street. On I burbled, in a wide ranging ramble about unhopped ales, the suitability of the Weald of Kent for growing hops, Flemish protestants and more. I was on a roll, and I could see a new career as beer bore to the stars looming ahead of me.

But no.She called back today to say they're using Miles Jenner from Harveys brewery instead. Pah. My dreams shattered, I can only console myself that I am, after all, already famous

  1. Reminds me of my 1.5 seconds on the local news. Maybe next time Ed.
