There's a handy little table of beer colour descriptions next to EBC numbers in Brauwelt International:

EBC units	Descriptive words
5	Light straw-yellow
10	Intense gold
15	Lustrous bronze
20	Glowing amber
30	Copper-coloured
40	Chestnut
60	Mahogany
80	Mocha-coloured
100+	Deep black

For those of you watching in black and white SRM numbers are half the EBC numbers.
