What to do with my whisky win?

I won a bottle of whisky the other day. Not normally being much of a spirits drinker I'm not sure what to do with it. The last time I won a bottle of whisky I gave it away, but I'm contemplating drinking this one.

When I visited the distillery on Arran I remember the tour guide saying you won't like whisky until you're 40, which I am now. But on the other hand I do drink a lot of beer and I don't want to go down George Best's road.

So I've decided to have a poll where you can vote on whether I should drink my whisky or give it away.

  1. I'm a No (I'm *the* No so far). If it was a malt I'd say keep it and stretch it out - I've made bottles of single malt last for years, by telling myself how special they were. A blend is just a whisky, and if you're getting enough alcohol by the beer route I wouldn't bother with it.

  2. you should try it and you'll have a bottle available to offer to visitors too. Dewar's is a fairly gentle whisky and would be a good way to get into them

  3. Give it away and get yourself a really good bottle of malt to savour

  4. I don't drink or like whisky, so I'd just give it away.

  5. Thanks for the comments, I'm wavering at the moment.

If it was a malt I think I'd be more inclined to drink it, but being a non-whisky drinker I'll probably find blended more palatable. Decisions, decisions...

  6. Swap it for some beer at your local?

  7. I know you'd take it Rob, you're already going down George Best's road!

I'm not sure if I'd get anywhere trying to swap it for beer at my local as the landlord is a whisky buff and probably wouldn't rate an easy drinking blended whisky.

  8. Clearly you should give it away to someone who would appreciate it. Like me for example.
